THE ART OF DISTRIBUTION
(Part 1)
by Antoinette

Anyone can make a film or television pilot. There are many who have done it. Celebrities, business executives and aspiring industry professionals have all tipped their toe into the pool of filmmaking. However, few have had success at securing distribution of these projects

Securing distribution seems to be particularly challenging for those outside of the traditional circle of Hollywood. Current projects seemed to be targeted toward a general and a growing teen demographic. In addition, there are a rising number of animation, 3D, prequel, sequel and remakes. Studio executives are focused on profit margins now more that ever, while most art house and independent films tour the film festival circuit. As a result, a small number of independent films made by a smaller number of persons receive distribution deals. A well known example is Tyler Perry. But, even Tyler Perry story includes rejection and eventual self financing.

Enter the online marketplace. Is seems that the best opportunity for independent films to reach a wide audience is in the online space. While many people still go to the tradtional movie theaters, more and more people are watching movies onlinr and in the comfort of their home. Why not your movie?
